The end of summer

When August ends, I feel that summer is over and autumn is coming. This summer in Japan was very short. There are two causes. The first was the very late rainy season, and the second was a continuous self-restraint campaign due to the coronavirus epidemic.

When I lived in New England, I was able to clearly feel the changing seasons because the daytime suddenly became shorter, and the temperature dropped down. But when I lived in Kaohsiung, Taiwan last year, I didn't remember when the end of summer was. During that time, I attended a language school That was run by the National Sun Yat-sen University, which was renowned for a beautiful view of Kaohsiung's harbor.

There was an outdoor pool at the university, and I was swimming there until late December. In Japan, most outdoor pools are open only in July and August, it made me realize Taiwan (especially in the south) is a tropical country. Perhaps Kaohsiung doesn't have a clear distinction of the four seasons, and may only have "a very hot summer" and "a little cool summer." ...
