Pineapple conveys good luck
In Taiwanese culture, pineapple is believed to convey good luck. The golden-colored peel and the sweet taste of a pineapple indeed seem to bring happiness and fortune. Today I saw a pineapple in a local supermarket. I bought one, thinking that it could be a good addition for Oshogatsu (Japanese New Year) ornaments. There is still a lot of time before the New Year, but the pineapple turned into something special when I decorated it with a ribbon and tag.
When I lived in Taiwan before, I once bought a pineapple with two crowns. Somehow it reminded me of a Chinese character “囍”(double happiness) which is also very auspicious.
